Tech-023: Flying with Infonetica (Present Day)
With my probation period complete, I was no longer required to attend the office twice a week. Instead, Infonetica had a new policy: one mandatory office day per month for all remote staff.
On paper, it made sense. But for me, it felt like ripping the band-aid off — going from eight days of face-to-face interaction each month down to a single day that was mostly consumed by travel.
I decided to create my own balance. In addition to the mandatory day, I voluntarily travelled down mid-month, staying Sunday night and spending two full, productive days in the office. It gave me the collaboration I craved without losing the freedom of remote work.
With that rhythm set, the shackles were off. Now it was time for me and Infonetica to fly — time to put my skills to use and make a real difference.
Key projects soon filled my plate:
- rolling out new platform authentication,
- designing for zero-downtime deployments,
- refining CI/CD pipelines,
- and much more to come.
But it wasn’t all about the work. That summer we celebrated with a brilliant party on a boat along the River Thames. The dress code was Festival — something I know all too well — so I pulled out one of my many colourful shirts. I even got to use another of my talents, stepping in as DJ for the evening and keeping the energy high with good tunes and positive vibes.
In a funny twist, Helen, turned up wearing the exact same shirt. Coincidence… or just great minds thinking alike?
The Bulgarian team also flew over for the event. It was my first time meeting Emin in person, along with Rumen and Andrey. They were just as fantastic face-to-face as they had been over countless video calls.
That summer party showed me once again that Infonetica wasn’t just a business — it was a family. Everyone clicked, the energy was real, and it reminded me why culture matters as much as the work itself.
Later in the year, the Christmas party brought back the warmth of a close-knit environment — it felt like DMS Navigator all over again.
I'm really excited to see where the Infonetica journey goes ...
